MasterCraft Pro Waterski Championship
Ups Purse 20% in 2003
Orlando, Florida – The MasterCraft Pro WaterSki Championship promises to be bigger and better in 2003. This year’s event presented by Chevy Trucks and GM Vortec engines is raising the purse by 20 percent in the three featured disciplines of men’s slalom and jump and women’s slalom, making this event one of the richest in history of water skiing.
Expect more top performances at the MasterCraft Pro scheduled for May 16-18 in Charleston, South Carolina, with more cash on the line for the athletes, and MasterCraft’s Prostar series pulling the event for another year. Last year both the men’s slalom and jump record were in jeopardy with a number of top performances. The excellent conditions at Trophy Lakes should provide more of the same in 2003.
Top skiers will be on hand at the MasterCraft Pro to challenge for the top spots. Chris Parrish will defend his men’s slalom title against top challengers including Wade Cox, Drew Ross, Terry Winter and Steve Cockeram.
In women’s slalom, Karen Truelove, coming off a career year in 2002 will have to fend off challenges from Geraldine Jamin, Natalie Hamrick, April Coble Eller and Jennifer Leachman.
Men’s jump will challenge defending champion Ryan Fitts to hold off Freddy Krueger who owned the world record in men’s jump in 2002. Former world record holder Jimmy Siemers will also be looking to take a shot at the top spot.
The unique format of the event rewards the most disciplined and conditioned athletes by placing challenges in every round. With the Indmar Bonus awards that put a cash purse on the Saturday’s qualifying competition, every round of the MasterCraft Pro promises to be loaded with action.
